Short Stories

Luck

I was walking to the station in the driving rain, a bag slung over my shoulder, another cutting my hand in two. I was never going to catch the 3.30 now. The Menai Straits was just ahead, there was another train in an hour, why not have one for the road?

Was I capable of having just the one? I decided I was.

All the stories below are from my first book, The Red Jag, published by Planet.

Safe

'I don't know what the hell we were doing there really. A bunch of blokes from Wales, patrolling the streets of Belfast while everything was falling apart back home.'

A soldier on leave from Northern Ireland discovers that life back in the Valleys is more dangerous than patrolling the streets of Belfast. His story unfolds as he sits waiting to commit an act of vengeance. This is another long story, and again I have reproduced about half of it here.

A Day Off

'You...You...You.'

I felt my heart thumping as he approached. He stopped in front of me, his eyes flicked over my arms and chest.

Two Irishmen working 'on the lump' in the 70s get more than they bargained for after they jack off work and go searching for a good time. Complete story.
